Our riding school provides formal instruction in the English riding discipline

(Hunters/Jumpers & Dressage) for the beginner, intermediate and advanced student

(ages 8 and up).  Lessons are scheduled seven days a week with morning, afternoon

and evening times available.  We pride ourselves for having top quality school horses

that are trained for every level of rider. We also have very skilled trainers with excellent

resumes and many years of experience to help each student obtain their goals.

The School of Horsemanship provides school horses, grooming equipment, tack

and safety helmets.  We also have working students available everyday in the stables to

help our clients with assistance if needed while tacking or un-tacking your school horse.

Appropriate dress is required for all students; including long pants and a smooth soled

 boot with quarter inch heal.

The school also boosts a climate controlled classroom and viewing area with seating

for parents or guests to view lessons, in a comfortable environment all year round.

To schedule a riding lesson, please contact the business office between the hours of

8:00 am and 8:00 pm.  Upon scheduling your riding lesson, please keep in mind that we

enforce a 24-hour cancellation policy on all lessons.

Frequently Asked Questions

· Must I have my own horse to ride?

No. We have school horses that accommodate all types of riders. Riders wishing to compete

at an advanced level will probably wish to own their own horse at some point.

· Am I too old or young to ride?

Riding is great for anyone over the age of 8. Very young children run the risk of being frightened

by the height off the ground, and lack the length of leg necessary to stay in balance with the

movement of the horse.

· Is riding very dangerous?

Riding is moderately risky. We strive to keep the risks to a minimum. Horses are animals

and can move suddenly. Our school horses are proven to be safe, but all horses can spook

at something that scares them. We insist that all riders wear helmets and attain certain

standards before attempting faster, harder, or bigger steps.

· Must I jump? Can I jump?

Before jumping, all students must demonstrate that they are ready and secure. Any student

who wishes to skip jumping is welcome to. Not all students are happy jumping. There are

plenty of challenges in dressage without the thrill of the jump to keep students progressing.

· What about equipment?

Riding takes a lot of gear. We outfit our horses with everything they need. Riders are encouraged

to have proper riding attire (boots, breeches, and helmet) in order to benefit most from the

lessons. Jeans rub! All students must wear helmets. The Las Colinas Tack Shop, conveniently

located in the front office area, has everything your aspiring rider will need for their first lesson,

including the proper riding pants and boots.
